I recently had an opportunity to ask Dee Dee Scoggins (Co Owner) of Comfort skate shop a few questions. Now, Dee is the real deal. How many Grown ass women do you know that can grip a board , probably better than you? Not many if any at all. You can find Dee Dee holding it down at comfort most likely on Sundays while Chris is out getting some work done in the streets. Make sure to stop by, get some gear, a soda , maybe a candy bar and get schooled on one of the raddest individuals to hold it down for the Chattanooga Skateboard Community.
DEE DEE SCOGGINS
R.G-ok Dee Dee, i think the big question everyone wants to know, who is your favorite skater and why?
DD-My fave skater is Guy Mariano. I loved his fully flaired part. It makes me happy.
I also have heard that you can grip a board better than Josh white. is this true?
Probably...Josh said girls can't grip. I mean, he really said that. I can grip pretty damn good.
BTW congratulations on the new addition to the comfort family both in
the form of a new team rider and in the k9 division. what's Rocco's
story? what about chris long?
We went to the frisbee dog
championship thing and there were some pretty cute dogs there for
adoption. We have been thinking about getting Roxy a friend to help
with her craziness. So we went to look at dogs. We wanted something
older and calm but then they brought out this tiny sad puppy and my
heart melted. So we got him. Roxy had to do a meet and greet and I was
worried she would kill him, but luckily she did not.
As far as
Chris Long, everyone knows he kills it...both in skating and in
personality. I don't really contribute too much to putting people on
the team, but everyone was backing him and we are really excite to have
him.
is he(rocco) faring well with the rox? Sometimes. He
likes to play rough and sometimes it just wears her out. She plays
pretty well with him but when she gets tired of him she lays on top of
him and I have to drag him out so he can breathe. Overall, considering
how nuts she is, I am pretty proud of her.
who lurks the shop the hardest, and who lurks the shop the best?
Lurks the hardest...I'm not here that much so that is a hard one to
answer. If I had to guess, it would be Brynnen. I think he hangs out
with Guertin a lot. As far as who lurks the best...there are some
people who make me really happy when they come in and some who don't.
Not too many lurkers on days that I am here. I rank below Roxy as far
as who people want to see here. :)
skateshops are known to attract some characters, what was the most off the wall shit you seen go down so far?
Someone came in and filmed a rap video here. That was pretty out
there. Crazy people seem to come in on a fairly regular basis. I mean
certifiable crazy.
aside from working at/ Co owning the shop what else do you do?
I'm an auditor Monday through Thursday and on Fridays I do accounting for a small business.
what brands are you backing?
Most of them. I am a total fan girl for most skate brands. I like
board graphics and I love shoes. Some of my favorite companies are Huf,
Vans, and Spitfire.
in your opinion what are the positive impacts of Comfort on the skate community? what have you noticed?
I would like to think that we have opened up a way for lots of skaters
to feel like they have a place that is theirs. I know we can't make
everyone happy, but it bothers me that we can't. Unfortunately, I
don't think there is a way to do it. I like to meet little kids and
hear their opinions. It makes me smile.
what is in the works for the shop? what can we look forward to next?
Our 2 year anniversary is coming up soon!! We are super excited to
have been in business that long. We are having an event at the
skatepark I think and then something with music later on.
what is the best way to kill time at the shop on a slow day?
I like to play stupid pointless games. I mean we have a tv and
internet and I could read a book, but I choose to play games where I do
inane things like run a supermarket or a salon or play cooking games.
And finally any thank you's or shout outs/ words of advice. or all three.
I would like to thank everyone who frequents our store. We wouldn't
have made it this long without you. I would also like to thank all of
our local companies who choose to sell their products here. We like
being able to support our friends with something we love. As far as
something super sappy, I would like to say thanks to Chris for letting
me share his dream with him. Words of advice...you should probably not
listen to me, but if you are really hurting for some advice come talk to
me at the store!
R.G would like to thank everyone involved in Keeping both Comfort and R.G alive. Any one who loves skateboarding for what it is as well as all the fake as shit that makes the real shit legit. Fart Rocks, Drain Darts Wheel Bite, Hell Bruises, Swellbow, and Hippers

Thanks for dropping in
Took a solo mission to meet up with the R.G Knoxville chapter. It seems
every time i go to knox I always take the wrong exit, but somehow always
end up at Tyson Park. I met John at the park we exchanged goods and
conversation as he gripped a new sled. The main reason for this mission
was not to get "stuck" at Tyson all day, and to check out some of the
DIY spots Knox has to offer. They have been putting in some serious work
and it looks like its paying off.

Thanks to all of you guys who have supported Redneck Graffiti over the past several months. With 50% of the proceeds from Beer Nuts as well as a few R.G tees sold, we were able to afford a few sacks of concrete and some cinder blocks. We were able to snag a few parking curbs as well as a pretty good location. with your support we will continue to keep these projects going.
There are still a few packs of Beer Nuts as well as some R.G shirts at COMFORT SKATESHOP. so go pick one up and give back to your skate community. we cant do it without your help. and we need all the help we can get.
Thanks, R.G

This weeks post is brought to you Jared Walker.
A while back Jared and the XB crew came up to Chattanooga to shred and drink and drink and smoke and drink some more. Recently Jared and friends took a "tour" of some tight ass parks that look super sick to shred. He posted the videos up and i just had to steal them for Redneck Graffiti. Watch these videos and get Hekka Hyped cause i know the R.G Staff / Dirtbag Skate Redneck Lurkers are stoked on them,
Enjoy- The Redneck Management
P.s Hopefully round two will be coming sooner than later

Redneck Graffiti.
Quit Bitching and start Building. Spring is approaching and the weather is about to be perfect for Shredding. here at Redneck Graffiti we have a few projects under our belts as well as some in the making. This is your chance to get your hands dirty. They arent gonna build it for you. they might, but who has time to cut through all the red tape. if you have acess to Cinder blocks, Dirt, Sand, Bricks or any kind of Stone Material, and are willing to part with it let us know. Any form of help is neded, even if you just want to make sure the beer is at the recomended temprature ( pretty sure Neck Beard holds this title). The time is near to grab a shovel and donate your sweat / blood. Leave your Vagina at home ( unless she is willing to pitch in). Bring some tools some brews, and some work ethic. You Gotta Pay to Play. are you In? or Out? the choice is yours but the result might not be. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Skate or D.I.Y
